Cox Implement Co. Inc. is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Tractor Technician/Sales Support Staff. This position is a two-fold position requiring the perfect candidate to adapt to a very fast paced work environment with little warning on sudden changes to a day’s tasks. The position is full time, 7am-5pm Monday – Friday, with occasional Saturdays and holidays. Following is the job requirements:

Tractor Technician

Record details of repairs made and parts used.

  • Maintain repair or maintenance records.

Reassemble machines and equipment following repair, testing operation and making adjustments as necessary.

  • Test mechanical equipment to ensure proper functioning.
  • Reassemble equipment after repair.
  • Adjust equipment to ensure optimal performance.

Maintain, repair, and overhaul farm machinery and vehicles, such as tractors, harvesters, and irrigation systems.

  • Repair defective engines or engine components.
  • Service vehicles to maintain functionality.

Examine and listen to equipment, read inspection reports, and confer with customers to locate and diagnose malfunctions.

  • Read work orders or descriptions of problems to determine repairs or modifications needed.
  • Inspect mechanical equipment to locate damage, defects, or wear.
  • Confer with customers or users to assess problems.

Dismantle defective machines for repair, using hand tools.

  • Disassemble equipment for maintenance or repair.

Test and replace electrical components and wiring, using test meters, soldering equipment, and hand tools.

  • Test electrical circuits or components for proper functioning.
  • Install machine or equipment replacement parts.

Repair or replace defective parts, using hand tools, milling and woodworking machines, lathes, welding equipment, grinders, or saws.

  • Replace worn, damaged, or defective mechanical parts.
  • Repair worn, damaged, or defective mechanical parts.

Clean and lubricate parts.

  • Clean equipment, parts, or tools to repair or maintain them in good working order.
  • Lubricate equipment to allow proper functioning.

Tune or overhaul engines.

  • Adjust vehicle components according to specifications.

Drive trucks to haul tools and equipment for on-site repair of large machinery.

  • Move large objects using heavy equipment.

Calculate bills according to record of repairs made, labor time, and parts used.

Fabricate new metal parts, using drill presses, engine lathes, and other machine tools.

  • Fabricate parts or components.

Install and repair agricultural irrigation, plumbing, and sprinkler systems.

  • Install piping for installation or maintenance activities.
  • Repair pipes to stop leaking.

Repair bent or torn sheet metal.

  • Repair structural components.

Sales Support Staff

Prepare sold units for customer pick-up/delivery.

  • Inspect unit for manufacturer defects.
  • Ensure all oils and fluids are full and clean (not gasoline or diesel).
  • Wash units thoroughly.
  • Test all functions of new units to ensure quality.

Assist sales team with loading units onto deliver trucks.

  • Ensure units are secured for travel.
  • Inspect truck and trailer for DOT violations or safety hazards when loading.

Cox Implement Requirements

A high-school diploma or equivalent (technical school certificate preferred).

A valid driver’s license (CDL preferred).

The ability to service many different brands and equipment styles (Massey Ferguson experience preferred).

A reliable source of transportation.

The ability to pass a criminal background check if subjected to one.

The ability to pass a random drug test if subjected to one at any time during employment.

The ability to identify and use any tools needed for any task (Providing personally owned tool set is preferred).

The ability to perform other duties as assigned.
